New arrangements for students - All Year groups have benefitted with the Year 11 students leaving last term by quickly settling into the new arrangements for students during this final half-term: whether that be by moving into new tutor rooms, being allowed to go up to Tweedies, or just having a larger area to run-around in at non-teaching times, things are very much less-crowded.
We do still miss the Year 11 students, though! We will be encouraging and engaging in conversations with the students about what the MTA is telling us all about their studying throughout the next two weeks. We are looking forward to seeing and meeting with you.
Please be sure to encourage nag them into a detailed revision programme as they continue with the exams through the coming weeks: they are very important, as the present Year 11 students will testify! Again, we will keep you as fully informed as possible, knowing how important it is to all of us in our future planning. Pklease be sure to read this letter to ensure your child is able to actively participate in this special event. A very big thank you must go to all the staff involved in organising and ensuring the event goes ahead since it will need to be managed under strict government coronavirus guidelines, of course, and this in itself is a very real challenge, I can assure you!
Prefects and Academy Officers — Year 10 students who have volunteered to be Academy Prefects have been briefed and trained in their new responsibilities this week and will start to take up their duties next week. Well done and thank you to all who have stepped forward to take on this important role. Also, the shortlist for Head Boy and Head Girl for the next academic year has been announced and the candidates will now undergo a very rigorous process to identify who will be appointed to these especially important roles. House Competitions - The final House Competition of the year will be the annual Welly-Wanging competition — always hotly contested with dates to be confirmed.
The points accrued from this event will, of course, go towards the final House Championship totals and the winning House will enjoy a non-uniform day and an afternoon of fun and games over at the Athletic Track on Friday 16th July. Positive tests should be immediately reported to both the Academy and NHS. A PCR test should be taken to confirm the result at the nearest available centre. If a student or a member of the family is found to be Positive, close contacts and members of the household must immediately self-isolate and seek for the result to be confirmed via a standard PCR test.
Please take care of each other, and, of course, any members of our immediate neighbourhoods and beyond who might benefit from a caring hand or thought. Very best wishes from all at Braunton Academy.
